When should we see a fertility specialist?
If you are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for a full year without success, or over 35 and have been trying for six months, it is time to consult a specialist. Come earlier if you experience irregular cycles, known conditions like endometriosis or PCOS, or have a history of previous pregnancy losses. Both partners should attend the initial consultation.
Fertility, IUI & IVF
What happens at the first fertility visit?
Your first visit at 0to9 Fertility Center in Baner, Pune focuses on understanding your unique reproductive history. Dr. Rashmi Bhamare evaluates lifestyle factors, past medical records, and previous test results for both partners. Rather than jumping straight to aggressive interventions, we map out a logical, stepwise diagnostic framework.
The tests, and what each one tells us
Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of successful treatment. We utilize advanced diagnostics to pinpoint exact factors affecting conception:
| Test / Diagnostic | What It Evaluates |
|---|---|
| Ultrasound (Pelvic / Transvaginal) | Assesses ovarian reserve (antral follicle count), uterine lining health, and detects structural issues like fibroids or cysts. |
| Hormone Panel | Evaluates AMH, FSH, LH, Thyroid (TSH), and Prolactin levels governing ovulation and egg quality. |
| Ovulation Tracking | Monitors follicular growth and timing of release across natural or stimulated cycles. |
| Hysteroscopy | Directly visualizes the interior of the uterine cavity to identify polyps, adhesions, or septum. |
| HSG (Hysterosalpingography) | X-ray imaging to check if the fallopian tubes are open and clear of blockages. |
| Semen Analysis | Comprehensive evaluation of male-factor parameters including sperm count, motility, and morphology. |
IUI, IVF and ICSI: which one, and why
Every couple’s path is distinct. Treatment escalates only when medically necessary:
- IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). Involves placing washed, high-quality sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. Ideal for mild male-factor issues or unexplained infertility.
- IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation). Eggs are retrieved and fertilized with sperm in a specialized laboratory environment, after which a healthy embryo is transferred back to the uterus.
- ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection). A specialized form of IVF where a single healthy sperm is injected directly into an egg, typically utilized for severe male-factor infertility.
Does everyone with fertility trouble need IVF?
No. A significant number of couples successfully conceive through lifestyle adjustments, simple cycle tracking, ovulation induction medications, or IUI. IVF is recommended only when clinical evaluation proves it is genuinely the right and most effective route, never as a default option.
Male-factor infertility: both partners get tested
Conception requires equal partnership. Approximately 40-50% of infertility cases involve male-factor components. We ensure that semen analysis and male health evaluations are performed early in the diagnostic cycle so that treatment addresses both partners comprehensively.
Fertility preservation
For individuals wishing to delay family planning due to career, personal goals, or medical treatments (such as oncology therapies), we offer advanced egg and embryo cryopreservation protocols.
“Every woman who walks in is carrying a story, a fear and a hope. My job is to be exact about the medicine and honest about the rest.”
